National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS)
NMDS is a government financial service that sponsors Basotho students to study in tertiary level. This sponsorship can sponsor students when they study in Lesotho and at international institutions. There are terms and conditions that may apply, for example the sponsorship does not sponsor all schools and students must be admitted to any sponsored tertiary schools. Students cannot apply for scholarship directly to the NMDS unless they are going to study outside the country. Only intitutions can submit names of admitted students to the NMDS offices. Info-Dome is a private company that sponsors Basotho students to study abroad, this means that students can only be sponsored for international institutions not Lesotho institutions for their studies. There are also terms and conditions that may apply, with this company students can get 100% scholarship and varying scholarship that can only cover school fees, it depends. Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) is a telecommunication company that sponsors Basotho citizens by HigherLife Foundation Lesotho Social Business Unit (SBU), according to ETL website HigherLife Foundation Lesotho Social Business Unit (SBU) was established in 2011, to assist orphaned, vulnerable and talented Basotho students who are prejudiced due to social factors inclusive of those affected and infected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Vodacom Lesotho (VCL) is a telecommunication company that sponsors Basotho students by Vodacom Lesotho Foundation through Vodacom Foundation Bursary, according to VCL website Vodacom Lesotho Foundation has introduced a new initiative in Lesotho aiming to empower young generation with digital skills and knowledge. The Vodacom Foundation Bursary Fundis a scholarship program dedicated to graduate students who have applied and been accepted by accredited South African Universities for undergraduate studies and have limited financial abilities to afford the tuition. The program provides young indigenous Basotho a unique opportunity for scientific undergraduate degrees in the field of digitalization that may include, but not exhaustive fields such us: ICT, Innovation, IT, Telecommunication, Software Engineering, Robotics and Programming.
